We kick off 2019 with the great news that a performance recorded live in 2016 with Synergy Vocals and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will finally be released on CD in 2019.
It will be the first ever recording of Steve Reich’s Desert Music with one voice to a part.
It contains the tricky canon for women’s voices set to the very apt words “difficult”.
For me it was the chance to visit my brother in Sydney and after the concerts were done, a trip to visit my Dad who was living in New Zealand at the time. The only thing that wasn’t great was the weather – It was unusually COLD!
A special thanks to our ‘conductor in chief’ David Robertson for inviting us to Sydney and our musical director Micaela Haslam for spending so much time honing the CD mix to allow the vocals to shine through the desert haze.
